Excursion Through Switzerland

Good morning beautiful humans, Happy Thursday! Thank you for spending part of your morning with me or afternoon depending on where you live in the world! Welcome to Life with Lane, my life through words, pictures, and food!

Life with Lane

So, I booked an excursion through viator for our time in Switzerland. We would start in Zurich, where is were we stayed for 4 days. Then we would travel to Liechtenstein and Heidiland. Two countries in one day on one tour. Sounded fantastic and so I booked it. It was a decent price and we didn’t have plans yet for that day and I wanted to see as much of Switzerland as possible while were we there. Fun fact, when I booked the excursion, I had no idea Heidiland was named after the book written by Heidi herself.

The tour was so much fun, and it was very informative. We had an excellent tour guide name Maria and she spoke in English. That wasn’t even something I thought about when I booked it, lol! However, everywhere we went, there was at least one person that spoke English. Next time we travel there, I will absolutely know the essential words. I think its so important to at least try to learn the words, good morning, please, thank you, I’m sorry, where is the bathroom, can you help, etc! The thing is when you speak in a different language you think you sound ridiculous, so you don’t like to do it? Well, at least that’s how I feel, lol.

I’m in Liechtenstein!

Our tour started at 11am in the morning and we didn’t get back until about 630 or 7pm. We definitely got our money’s worth. We had to go through Zurich to get to the other places. Zurich, which I had no idea, is considered the cultural capital of Switzerland. We got tons of information about Zurich as we were driving through. I tried to pay attention as much as I could but it was hard when so much beauty was around us. I kid you not I probably took about 75 pictures from inside of the bus. The pictures came out really great and I was surprised. Once I placed my camera against the window you couldn’t tell I was inside of the bus.

We passed by this huge red Ferris Wheel when we drove through town. I wanted to get on it on so bad, lol! Sadly, that wasn’t part of the tour. There were these beautiful yellow bushes everywhere. I mean like bright yellow and they stood out. We could see mountains, valleys, and huge lakes! I was in awe. I mean I’ve seen beautiful things before, including mountains but it was different over there.

These were everywhere!

We stopped and had lunch about an hour after we started the tour. Omg, the food was so good. As a matter of fact all of the food we had in Switzerland was delicious. I mean all of it, including the breakfast we had each morning at the hotel. As a self made foodie, it is my job to eat food from everywhere!!

Lunch in Zurich!

We made our way to Liechtenstein first and it was very small but so green and pretty. The Prince was in town with his family. We didn’t get to see him but he was there! It was neat to see a castle in real life although we didn’t get to go in or get really close. I was able to get a stamp on my Passport, it wasn’t official but I didn’t care. It’s still another stamp on my passport. We stayed there for maybe an hour and then we headed to Heidiland.

I found out later the town is actually called Maienfield. However, I’m going to keep calling it Heidiland. I enjoyed Heidiland way more than Liechtenstein. The scenery was much better and it reminded me of The Sound of Music. As a matter of fact, I re-enacted the famous scene from the movie. I posted it on Instagram and Facebook. So, when you have time go and check it out!

I’m in Heidiland!

On our way to Maienfield (Heidiland) we could see the mountains in Austria in the background. For some reason the grass and trees seemed greener over there. I just wanted to swim in the grass! I took so many pictures. Head over to my Instagram to see all the pictures and watch my Instastories.

The excursion was better than I imagined and I would definitely do it again. Thanks for reading my blog. Have a wonderful blessed day and always, always be kind. Follow me on Instagram @lifewithlane14 Have you ever visited Switzerland? What is your favorite part?
