Good morning beautiful humans, Happy Tuesday! Thank you for spending part of your morning with me or evening depending on where you are in this Great Big World. Welcome to life with Lane, my life through words, pictures, and food!
I’ve written about this before but just in case you don’t remember, my grandmother passed away before I was born. I never had the pleasure of meeting her and neither did my siblings. My grandfather got remarried to a lovely lady named Lillian. We didn’t call her grandmother we called her Mama Lily.
I’m writing to you today about Mama Lily because Easter was 2 days ago. She was the one who told me the significance of an Easter egg and the Bunny. When I was younger I never understood what the Easter bunny and eggs had to do with Easter. I never asked anyone until I got older.
One day after Easter Sunday service I asked Momma Lily. She took me to a pew and sat me down and told me exactly what the egg represented. I don’t remember word for word what she said because it was a long time ago. However, I remember her saying the egg represented the tomb that Christ came out of when he was resurrected. That made sense to me. I will never forget having that conversation with her!
I had lots of conversations with her about things I didn’t understand. She was such a sweet woman. She made the best pound cakes on the planet. We were robbed of having my Mothers Mother but it sure was a blessing having Momma Lily. Unfortunately I don’t have many pictures of her so I couldn’t feature one today!
This month is national poetry month here in Orlando. My features poems this week will be about Momma Lily and my sister’s late great dog Maxwell. I’m setting this up because I won’t do introductions on those days in my blogs.
Thanks for reading my blogs. I hope you enjoyed them and even learned something from them. Have a wonderful blessed day and always always be kind. Follow me on Instagram@lifewithlane14
