Knowing When to Speak Up

Good morning beautiful humans, happy Thursday! Thank you for spending part of your morning with me or evening depending on where you live and his great big world. Welcome to Life with Lane, my life through words, pictures, and food!

Lane Selfie, Life with Lane! Knowing When to Speak Up!

Since I was in middle school I have always been against abortion and capital punishment. My love for babies and children wouldn’t allow me to comprehend abortion. I was never a fan of an eye for an eye when it came to murder. So, I couldn’t get on board with capital punishment.

However, as I’ve got older and learned about things women have gone through over the years, my thought process has changed.  I still don’t believe in abortion or capital punishment but I don’t think anyone should have the right to tell women what to do their bodies, PERIOD!!

Over the past few weeks I’ve seen states pass abortion laws and it’s quite upsetting and puzzling. I say puzzling because when a woman decides to have an abortion it’s her decision and it really affects no one else. I mean literally it affects no one else. What’s even more upsetting is the fact that a group of old men are making these decisions to pass these laws. Why are men making decisions about women’s bodies?

We have people out here pushing for anti abortion laws but won’t fight that hard for things to get done that actually affect people on a daily basis. We have a gun control issue in America. Mass shootings happen almost on a daily basis. Flint Michigan hasn’t had clean water since 2012. We have an opioid crisis. Women and young girls are abducted and sold into sex slavery. Kids are in cages at the border and separated from their families. Black people are treated unfairly, discriminated against, profiled, and young unarmed black men are being shot by police officers. Young boys are being molested in the Catholic church. I mean I could go on and on with issues in America that need to be addressed.

One of the thing that bothers me most is the fact that once a child is born, the people that are trying to stop abortions, don’t seem to give a damn about the baby anymore. They are trying to get rid of programs that help mothers. Medicaid,  Medicare, Obamacare, healthy lunch programs, planned parenthood, food stamps, welfare, etc! What is going on in this world?

Why can’t they use that same passion to save children that are already here??

For years, women had very little to no rights at all. We couldn’t vote. We were expected to just stay home and clean and make babies. Our only jobs were secretary or phone operator when we could work. They expected us to be pretty and silent. We weren’t treated very well. We’ve endured so much and we continue to do so. Having the right to control what we can and cannot do with our bodies should never be on the table. Always remember only God can judge us. No one else, just him! Thanks for reading my blog. 1. Believe it or not,no joking for me today. I like all the things you pointed out and would like to add a couple of own. I’ve noticed that most of the state’s that are pushing these abortion Bill have a death penalty law which they enforce every chance they get. If children were so important why do we need orphanages. And by the way the orphanages are full of unwanted children. This is not about abortion, this is about control. Great post Lane

    1. It’s weird not having you make a funny ridiculous comment. However this isn’t a laughing matter. We are living in crazy times. People only bring up God when it suits them and it’s very upsetting. God didn’t give human the right to judge or dictate what woman to with their bodies. This whole thing makes me sick. Thank you

  2. Thanks for your thoughts. I don’t believe in abortion. We all have a standard we follow. I agree with you regarding all of the terrible atrocities that you mentioned that are happening. I would add abortion to that as well. It does affect more than one person. It affects two. It changes two lives. It takes one away and has a ripple effect on another. This is from speaking to a woman in my family who has had one. We all must come to a conclusion as to why we believe sex slavery, racism, and all of the other terrible acts you mentioned are wrong. From where does this standard arise? You mentioned only God can judge. He is the standard. Which means we should consider what His standard is.

    1. Thanks for your comment. You say it affects 2 lives, however it still has nothing to do with the lives of anyone other than the woman having the abortion. She has to live with her choices not anyone else and that is why it should never be anyone else’s decision as to how women make decisions about our/their bodies. Why anyone thinks their neighbor having an abortion is their business is beyond me. We may never agree on this but I appreciate the feedback. Sin is sin and it happens every single day and we people decide abortion above all the others is something I don’t understand

  3. I agree w a lot of what you stated although I am not against abortions. I believe in a woman’s right to choose, no one should have a say so on what she chooses to do w her body. These lawmakers are pro life but thn whn the baby gets here, they aren’t assisting the mom w providing a better life whn she unable to do so. There are so many kids left in foster care that fall through the cracks or that are being abused and neglected. It’s never the lawmakers or “pro life” ppl tht are adopting these kids although they say put the kid up for adoption instead of abortion. Thn In Alabama, they expect a woman to have a baby even if she is raped, now hones, how many people would actually want to go through w tht. It happened to one of my close friends and she went insane. I could go on and on but I digress.

    1. We are living in very sad times. Very upsetting to see these lawmakers telling women what they can and cannot do with their bodies. Its disgusting. You’re very right about the same people that are pro life not adopting and taking the babies into their homes. They simply don’t care after the child is born. That’s evident everywhere. Kids in cages at the border, the programs they are trying to end to, kids in foster care, and orphanages. Sad world we live in.
