Shout out to single moms, part 2!

Good morning beautiful humans, happy Wednesday! How’s your week going so far? Thank you for stopping by my blog. Well, come on in!

“Shout out to single moms, part 2!”
Life with Lane

I loved my hair cut like that! I might go back to it. That was quite a while ago. You can never go wrong with a bob! I even had bangs.

Before I start I would like to say thank you to all the essential workers still having to work everyday. You put yourself at risk each time you go to work. So, thank you very much.

A few months ago I wrote a blog about single moms. Well, although it wasn’t that long ago I felt the need to do it again. Probably because of what is going on with the coronavirus. Single mothers are having to handle things alone but on a different level.

It’s not a secret I have a special place in my heart for single mother’s because I was raised by one. Not just any one, the best one, my Mom! So, I have the upmost respect for them.

During this pandemic, things have been crazy and it seems like mothers, single mothers are affected differently. Not saying everyone isn’t but for single mothers it seems like they have it tougher. Schools and daycare facilities are closed. So in addition to being mothers, they’re now school teachers. Like, I’m talking having a syllabus and doing virtual classroom sessions.

They have to find someone to watch their kid(s) while they go to work and so they can continue to provide for their child/children. If their job has closed because of the coronavirus they still have to make ends meet. You know why? Because they have no help, they’re single. Their kids still have to eat, daycare still has to be paid if they’re still able to work. Kids still need clothes because coronavirus doesn’t stop kids from growing and needing things.

My Queen, my Mother, Delma-Ann

The single Moms I know are doing it all with grace. Maybe they cry and complain when I’m not around. They have to cook, clean the house, do homework, and whatever else comes alone. They do it all alone. Check on the single Moms you know.

There’s no one coming behind them when they fall to pick up the slack. If they’re sick it doesn’t matter. Kid(s) are still there. There’s no break or day off. I salute you single Moms, especially during this time. Coronavirus ain’t got nothing on you!

  1. Arnetta, I commented on your original post … as being raised by a single mom … because it’s so close to my heart and exactly how I was raised. Regardless of circumstances, Single Mother’s have the dual role of being both Mom and Dad. The first, is a small miracle in and of itself. The later, impossible, but yet they do it. That may be obvious to some and possibly overlooked by many, but it’s not lost on the children raised exclusively by their Mothers. Thanks again for sharing. 💜🙏
